CE Update July 2025
Tena koutou katoa,
It continues to be a challenging time for our sector, and we know many of you are feeling the pressure. At Community Waikato, we’re still primarily working from home, but our services remain uninterrupted. The team is as committed as ever and keen to get out and connect with you kanohi ki te kanohi where possible.
In the background, I’ve been working on several submissions addressing key issues affecting the sector — from funding pressures and compliance burdens to the broader impacts of current policy shifts. I also recently met with Minister Louise Upston to discuss what’s happening on the ground, sharing some of the realities our communities are facing.
While there is a lot going on, we’re also looking ahead with hope. Planning is well underway for this year’s Community Waikato Conference, and we’re excited to bring the sector together again. The theme, Navigating the Tough Times, couldn’t be more timely — and we hope it will be an inspiring and supportive space for us all to reconnect, reflect, and find strength in collective purpose.
We can’t wait to see you there.
