Community Waikato works alongside communities and organisations in the Waikato region to strengthen capacity, capability and ultimately, enhance community impact.

Community Waikato was born from a Trust Waikato initiative, recognising the need to invest in organisational capacity in-order to have a strong sustainable community sector. In 2001 a foundation board was finalised, and by 2002 the first staff were appointed. This new organisation was called the Social Services Waikato Trust, which later became ‘Community Waikato’.

How we work

We work alongside groups and organisations understanding that you are the experts in what you do. We bring the resources and processes and the groups we work with hold the experience, knowledge and wisdom. Together we build on your strengths and develop your capacity.

What we do

Community Waikato connects people, brokers relationships and encourages our sector to collaborate. We have a team who work directly with communities, marae, organisations and groups to support their visioning, planning, governance, operations, policy policies and processes.

Community Waikato also offers opportunities for learning through training and professional development. We are an advocate for the sector, and we are fund managers for the Tindall Foundation. We support networks and assist the sector and organisations to collaborate.

Our work focuses on opportunities to create change, development for the sector and greater impact for our communities in the Waikato/Tainui region.

What area we cover

Te hira tangata ki Waikato, ki Raukawa, ki Maniapoto, ki Hauraki.
